

Day One
Come join us at the coach departure point on Gap Road as we depart for Birdsville at 5am. We travel through the day over the infamous Plenty highway, stopping for a picnic lunch at Jervois Station before continuing on to our overnight stay at Wirrilyerna Cattle Station. Take the opportunity tonight to get to know your fellow travellers as we swap stories over a campfire dinner. Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day Two
After breakfast, a leisurely start to the day will see us arrive in Birdsville by early afternoon. Our advanced team have already set up so when we arrive you simply, sit back and unwind. You will be allocated tents in time to settle in and get together for our first Aussie camp dinner under the Great Southern Cross. We suggest an early night to prepare for the big weekend. Day Three
The action begins early today as the tiny town of 100 swells to over 5,000 today with racing enthusiasts gathering for the big races. Return transport to the racetrack on Greyhound shuttles is included for the 6 race program, with over $50,000 in prize money on offer for the winners. Alternatively, if you’re interested we take a run to Big Red, the largest accessible sand dune in Australia, standing 40m above sea level and it is located 40km west of Birdsville. It is the first and tallest of 1,100 sand dunes in the Simpson Desert and you have the unique opportunity to climb up and see what’s on the other side. This evening the famous Birdsville hotel is where you will find all the action to dance the night away. The veterans and the first timers will gather together for hints and tips on how to pick a winner. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day Four
Another big day... first we go over the SA border to see the start of the Birdsville track. The Birdsville race track is a natural claypan track making it flat and fast. There is $88,000 in prize money on offer to the winners over a 7 race program today including the running of the esteemed Birdsville cup; over 1,600m it starts in the back straight, the Birdsville track is one of only four tracks in Queensland that runs anti-clockwise. You can come and go as you like today using the Greyhound shuttles that continuously run from town to the races. You can’t miss the carnival atmosphere, there are many attractions like a boxing tent and sideshow stalls; you can even go into town and visit the Birdsville Working Museum for a look into yesteryear. Tonight is the last night under the stars; you could spend it at the pub sharing stories with new found friends or simply wind down back at camp. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day Five
After a leisurely sleep in, our team prepare breakfast while we pack up for the journey home. It’s been a great weekend, made lots of new friends and it’s now time to arrange to meet again next year. We depart at approx 10:00am and travel back to Wirrilyerna Station for an overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day Six
Departing early from Wirrilyerna we retrace our steps across the Plenty highway, stopping for lunch on the way. As an unforgettable trip draws to a close, reflect on the new friends we have made and the great experiences we have had before arriving home in the early evening. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
